Pistol PoemPistol Poem formed earlier this year to explore a sparse yet kinetic vibe. Inspired by invtervallic natures and use of space, the musicians express an organic flow from notated specifics to free association and back. A summer recording and subsequent release of Miller's pantonal composition and graphic scores is in consideration. Bassist James Ilgenfritz, well-known in the Brooklyn scene of improvisers as both player and teacher, approaches the double bass as an archeologist. His work has been praised in Time Out New York, Signla To Noise, and Downbeat Magazine. A former student of the legendary drummer Ed Blackwell, Andrew Drury is both supportive and exploratory with his unique sense of rhythm and extended techniques. He is known internationally as well as having toured across the country at homeless shelters, maximum security prisons, and battered women's shelters. Miller's last group of this nature was The Push-Pull Quartet releasing "At The Stroke of Twelve" on Tigerasylum Records in 2008. He also devotes much of his composing time to his 15-member ensemble The Sensorium Saxophone Orchestra.
