Miller's earliest influences were from his father's love of romantic classical and 20th Century music; Mozart, Brahms, Villa Lobos, Stravinsky. The British Invasion, Psychedelic Rock, Electronic, Be-Bop, Free Jazz, Noise, and Punk also had their effect. He started alto saxophone and guitar in elementary school and by High School explored free improvisation. In his early twenties, he was introduced to 20th Century composition techniques by Denman Maroney. At this time, Miller focused on composing small orchestral pieces for various ensembles.

From 1977-78, Miller played sax with Ann Arbor-Detroit punk band Destroy All Monsters. Throughout the 1980's, although primarily playing guitar, Miller included horn playing in various groups.

In the 90's, he attended Columbia College Chicago where he began developing an all-interval method of his own. This unique method came to fruition in 2007.

In 2006, Miller recorded "Every Room" for The Abaton Book Company, which was released in 2007 as a 45rpm lathe-cut. This was recorded soley by Miller overdubbing 16 saxophones [baritone through soprano] before he considered forming a full orchestra. A new release of several compositions from this same recording session will be released on Living Records in order to help finance the current orchestra's first release. Please buy it.

Miller's first symphony is anticipating a Spring 2009 NYC premiere. Plans are to go into the studio in June @ Royal Blue Studios for an all-analog recording with a late Fall release on Tigerasylum Records.
